Lucia’s Classic Hummus

I was inspired to start making my own hummus once I tried a Red Pepper Hummus Wrap from a food truck that would come by my local college.
Since that point I have tasted and made hummus with all sorts of wacky ingredients, from spirulina to chocolate, but nothing quite beats the true classic hummus, the recipe of which you can find below!
Personally, I like my hummus with a lot of tahini, but make it a few times, and you'll start to find your own personal favourite hummus too.
Course Appetizer, Side Dish, Snack
Cuisine Middle Eastern
Servings 4
Prep Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

Hummus

  • 1 jar Cooked Chickpeas 600g, rinsed and drained*
  • 4 tbsp Tahini
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup Water to thin

Garnish

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Sweet Paprika
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Sumac powder

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender, and blend until smooth, or at desired consistency.
  • Slowly add more water if the hummus is too thick.
  • Garnish with desired toppings.

Notes

Personally, I don’t often use the aquafaba (chickpea liquid), as this can make it taste very vegetal, but definitely experiment and find your own favourite style!.
