Pui Pui Molcar 🙁
This Saturday, Lucia and I had the pleasure of taking a trip down to Odaiba Bay, the famous city-beach of Tokyo, with fantastic views of the rainbow bridge!
But i’m not here to talk about that.
I’m here to talk about one particular Pui Pui Molcar plushie, and the cutest and most frustrating arcade experience of our lives.
The plushie you see in the photo is from a Netflix series by the name ‘Pui Pui Molcar’, with the ‘Pui Pui’ being a Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound a guinea-pig makes. It is a fantastic show, warm, fun and surprisingly witty. Definitely worth a watch.
Ever since we saw the show, we have been dying to get our hands on the cute, giant plush Molcar, as we have seen them occasionally pop-up around Tokyo!
And then we saw it, the arcade Molcar.
Japanese claw machines are famous for all arcade lovers, and the arcade we went to in Diver-City mall had about 50 of them. But just like anywhere else in the world, they are designed in a way to be so tantalizingly close to winnable, but nigh-impossible at the same time.
We spent 1100¥ trying to get this bad boy, but time after time the big claw grip loosened just as the toy came close to the hole. It was agony!
And so we left, hearts sunken. The claw machine wins this time.
Will we ever get our beloved Pui Pui Plushie? Who knows. Maybe we’ll go back to the arcade and give it another go.
Surely we’ll get lucky this time!
Right?…
